We’re Famous!

Or, if not famous, “special,” at least.
According to The Philly Food Feed, that is.
Hot, Hot, Hot.

Jalapenos, and some others that are smaller, and hotter.

Here's Ellis with a nice sized brandywine tomato

President Washington enjoying a blackberry.

A bumblebee on a zinnia, with a brown butterfly fluttering overhead.

Okra has very nice flowers, very tasty too.
Happy August
August 4, 2009

It rained again...

we all got to go swimming.

Our cantaloupes have arrived.

Plenty of heirloom tomatoes.

Big.

And small.

Dr. Martin's Lima Beans.

Maybe like 12 varieties of eggplant.

Squashes, plain and conjoined.

Not sure which variety this is, it was delicious, but just a little young still.

One of the first Brandywine tomatos of the year, late on account of all the rain clouds.

Bull’s Blood beets, as you can see, have very big red tops, the beets themselves are very sweet, and do not have as much earthy flavor as other beets.

Speckled Bibb lettuce, very delicate and sweet, looked great with those beets on top.

These went on top of vanilla ice cream.

Photo by Brent, our lettucemaster. I think Little Gem is the variety, but Brent’ll have to confirm that.

As we say after taking our warmup pitches in Wiffle, these are good.
